One other thing to remember while toweling is to NOT squeeze the bird around
the chest area. Birds actually expand their chest to breathe. I have
heard bad stories of inexperienced people or vet techs that end up killing a
bird by restraining it improperly (usually this is with smaller birds that you
can get your hand around). Just remember to always go for the bottom beak
& head area, this is not only a safe area to hold them in, but also it immobilizes
the most dangerous part of the bird.
For people that can train their birds to lie on their backs, you might try using
C/T to get the bird to do so on a towel and let you wrap them up a bit. It
might go a long way towards making them more comfortable in future situations.
