PARROTS
ARE SO COOL, 6/23/02. I was impressed by the parrot show where these beautiful
long-plumed birds flew out and around and back again. What a great way to
demonstrate the beauty of these animals. I liked that I learned a lot
about the birds and that we were given the opportunity to meet them up close.
I feel that the children present took away with them the importance of recycling
(especially aluminum) and will think twice about filling our landfills with
recyclable materials. Please have the Pirate and his parrots back again!
My kids weren't with me today when I saw the show, but, by golly, I'd bring them
back to see this guy again and again. And I would bring all my friends and the
kids' friends and their parents, too. Thank you for the great show.
I hope it's on the roster for next year and the years to come.

Letter TWO:
Hi
Chris. I have been HUGELY enjoying your Freeflight list and contributions on the
Clickbird list for a some time now. Someone called you an angel pirate in
today's digest and I laughed at the gush of tenderness <sigh, so girly,
huh?> but I must agree that it isn't often that kindness overlays knowledge,
experience and clear teaching/writing ability and your kindness always rings
clear amidst the other skills you have. So, angel pirate it is <gg>...besides,
Pirates are supposed to make girls swoon. LOL!
I can't tell you how much I appreciate your time and wisdom on the lists.
Best, Best,
Susan
Letter THREE:
Hi,
My wife and I saw your show at Monroe on 9/25 (11:30 am) and it was the
highlight of our trip to the fair. Although I had always thought parrots
are pretty, I had no idea they had such individual personalities. The one
little guy that kept flying over and landing on you when he wasn't supposed to
was especially cute. You might like to know that you made your point about
recycling the aluminum cans, too. I'm 53 and have tended to look at a lot
of the recycling as a bunch of "liberal" BS, brought to us by the same
folks that gave us the helmet laws, seat belt laws, increased taxes, and other
big brother laws. Your explanation about the aluminum industry and about
the destruction of the rain forest killing the birds really made an impression
on me. And to tell you the truth, the parrot saying "I love you"
really did it. I won't be throwing any more aluminum cans in the trash.
Thanks for coming up here and doing the show, and good luck with all your birds.
Sincerely,
Lee Bordenet
Letter FOUR:
I
really enjoyed seeing your show (twice!) at the Evergreen State Fair [August 2000].
I appreciated that you are clearly trying to educate people about the pros and
cons of adding a parrot to your household. Too many people obtain a parrot
without having any idea of what is entailed in owning one; I think your show
will help alleviate some of the impulse buying that occurs. Thanks for the
entertainment and education.

Letter FIVE:
Hi
Pirate and Parrots,
Saw your show on Saturday [August 2000] and really enjoyed your birds and info.
Glad I waited to listen for your website and grabbed a postcard. Hey, you should
have your website on there. I am glad to learn about all the other things you do
in addition to the educational show.
My husband and I really enjoyed your show. I learned new things, and the timing
was wonderful. We are strongly contemplating adopting a blue and gold parrot. He
has been a parrot dad before. So I suspect I will be back to your website quite
a bit.
Need that information!!!!!!!
Thank you again,
Sincerely,
Jo
P.S.-Hey was that ship yours?????
What a prop!
Letter SIX:
I
saw your show yesterday [August 2000] in Graham and it was great. Keep up
the valuable service you are providing the public, not to mention the
entertainment. I was once a hook bill breeder and bred birds from budgies
to macaws. Only have one amazon now and really enjoyed the site of having
so many birds around. Thanks again,
Dwight Hamilton
Letter SEVEN:

From the Mid-South Fair in Memphis Tennessee (901) 274-8800.
"February 22, 2000
Dear Chris:
The Mid-South Fair was a huge success and I wanted to thank you for your help to make that possible. Our Fairgoers really enjoyed your exotic bird show, and we enjoyed working with such a professional entertainer. Your bird, pirate ship and presentation were all "blue-ribbon winners" with us! Our sponsors were also delighted with the way you incorporated them into your show.
Best wishes for a prosperous year 2000. I look forward to having you back at the Mid-South Fair in the Future.
Yours very Truly,
Cynthia Savage

Letter NINE:
From the Stanwood-Camano Community Fair, in Stanwood Washington (360) 629-4121
"Monday, October 20, 1997
Dear Chris and Gudrun:
What a wonderful addition ESENCE was to our 1997 Stanwood Camano Community Fair. The interest and curiosity the Pirates, Parrots, and Boat created was great. We had no less than 100 people stop in our office and comment on your display and ask if we would have you, birds adn boat back in 1998. Our answer was of course, we'll have them back.
Another interesting observation regarding your display was the wide appeal it has from very young children, to teens, adults and seniors. Thanks for adding a fun, educational and hands on activity to the Best Li'l Fair in the West. The Stanwood - Camano Community Fairboard and Management knows that adding ESENCE to our 1997 fair entertainment budget was money well spent.
Looking forward to seeing in 1998.

Letter TEN:
Hi Ya Chris and all!
You know I do agree that not everyone should even attempt in free flight with their birds.
But, I have to share that I have seen and experienced the beautiful presentations
that you and your wife share with the public and I believe that you are very experienced
and you are most certainly capable of handling this most interesting ability of allowing
birds to experience free flight. The birds that are under you and your wife are very
well trained and obviously have a great deal of love and devotion for their
caregivers. It is a beautiful sight to see the birds interacting with you. I
have to admit that when I first noticed the posts about motorcycling birds it really
concerned me until I realized it was just YOU. Certain you are NOT the average bird owner
by any means :) and one would have to actually experience the presentations to really be
fully aware of this.
We first met Chris and family at the ASOP fair a couple of years ago then last year we
were most fortunate to be able to watch the entire presentation when they paid a visit to
our town. We were awe stricken with the beauty and the wonder of watching the
program. He did a wonderful job of getting his message across to the public.
It was very well done. Recently, I wrote Chris and told him how nice it was to know
that he was on this list and how good it was to talk to him again. We had a good
laugh remembering his visit here in the Tri-Cities. When they were assigned their
space at the fair they had placed the Pirate Ship directly by this huge bungee swing ride
where humans were taken up very high and dropped with
the bungee cord. The birds were completely in shock to see humans taking flight so Chris in his intuitive fashion went
to speak with the owners of the ride. The owners of the ride worked out a plan with
Chris that they would shut down the operation of the ride until the ESENCE program was
finished so as not to frighten the birds continually during the presentation. The
operators of the ride would stand nearby and watch each presentation with as much awe as
the rest of us in the audience and were gracious to work out this plan in order to prevent
disturbing the birds.
Long after the presentation was over you could see Chris and his wife busy with answering
questions and allowing hands on experience with the birds. My 3 year old niece held
one of his birds and had the sweetest smile on her face that I had ever seen. She
will not soon forget her experience with Chris and the Pirate Flock. Isn't that what
bird ownership is all about? Sharing our love and compassion with the world so that
they too will care as much as we do. We have 42 birds here in our care. We are
completely devoted to them every single minute of the day. Would I trust abilities
and even attempt free flight? No, thank you! But, worry about Chris and his
abilities to be able to offer this wonderful opportunity for not only the birds but the
public...NEVER! It is truly an experience that you never forget. The birds are not in danger because I truly believe that this family would
lay down their very lives to protect these birds...you can tell that the birds believe
that too because the confidence level that they have invested in Chris is something
visual. You can see it in the way the birds behave and how they handle themselves.
I hope that your message doesn't indicate that you are leaving the list because it would
be a shame to loose the experience and skill that you have to offer everyone here - even
if free flight is not an option for everyone.
Keep up the good work Chris!
Sharon & Chrissy Coughlin & Flock
Hello Sharon & Chrissy Coughlin & Flock,
Can I hire you guys for PR purposes? LOL. Wow what a great post and review, thanks
so much!
I was wondering if you would mind if I post it to my Website as a sort of a
"reference letter from the audience". We "entertainers" don't
often get that kind of feedback in writing (we hear stuff like this once in a while in
person but rarely is it in written form) and naturally have trouble forwarding such verbal
feedback on to the various people who consider hiring us.
Thanks again for the very kind post. Chris Biro
Of course you can! Hey tell them to call me for references too if they want --
(509) 967-1103 would be most happy to see your presentations much more than what we have
been able to thus far. It really is a wonderful program.
Sharon C.

Letter ELEVEN:
Hi.
My name is Bob and I happened to see your show at the Pierce county fair this past
Saturday [August 1999]. I was the male volunteer who sat in on your five o'clock show. There
were some things that I had wanted to ask you about after the show, but my wife
wanted to go see the hypnotist, and promptly dragged me off. Anyways, I was
wondering what the distinction is between a Parrot and a Parakeet. I would
also like to ask you if you are going to be doing presentations at any other fairs or
parks or whatever in the next few months.
As an additional note, my wife had told me that she liked the way that you answered the
kid who asked you if your sword was real. She thought it was funny how you took
offense at him implying that you might be a fake. I, on the other hand, thought that
the way you answered the kid who asked you if your gun was real was outstanding.
Telling him that he should always consider every gun to be real was what I consider
to be socially responsible, and gives the reputation of pirates everywhere a boost.
- Bob
Do you mind if I post your comments to my Website as feedback from the field?
>
>Parrots: more than pets, friends for life.
>Chris Biro
I would not mind that in the slightest.
Also, a few days ago, I was in a pet store looking at the parrots, when one of them leaned
over and started feeling my shirt with its tongue. One of the teenagers working at
the counter started to tell the parrot not to eat my shirt, but thanks to your show, I
knew that the parrot just wanted to know what the flannel felt like, and so I was able to
explain that that was just how parrots touched things. It may not seem like much,
but I felt really smart for a while, and so I thought you might like to hear about it.
